Giant Halloween Decoration Idea – Hard Coating & Texturing Foam on the Graveyard Mausoleum
Here is an update on our giant Halloween decoration idea for Halloween 2022. In this video we focus on hard coating and texturing the sculpted foam pieces and walls of the graveyard mausoleum façade we are making. This haunted cemetery crypt prop will be a spooky and creepy walk-in tomb DIY decoration for any Halloween graveyard or cemetery scene. After all the walls are made and foam details have been carved we attach foil with 3m super 77 to cover all the Styrofoam so we can apply polyester resin and 2 oz. of fiberglass matt. We also use a Smooth-On epoxy resin called EpoxAmite on the rough textured stone bricks we carved. Once the resin cured for a day we mixed Flexbond mortar with a little Drylok concrete sealer and using a hopper gun sprayed a rough texture on all the wall sections. Once dry we applied an exterior latex paint for the base coat. The plan is to get everything coved and back together so we can start to faux paint and age this huge thing.
