TP to Smooth Over Fiberglass – Tissue Layer on Foam Props

Hard coating foam props with a thin tissue layer or TP to smooth over the top of the fiberglass matte texture. Applying this test tissue layer on our foam prop jawbridge sculpture is essentially paper mache but with Kleenex tissue paper. Wonder if someone could just hard coat with 5 layers of the tissue paper on top of aluminum foil. In this video we apply fiberglass matte and resin over our aluminum foil protecting the foam project from melting with polyester resin. Using a tin foil layer as a protective barrier is an old foam hard coating technique that really works. I continue work on our Masters of the Universe Castle Grayskull jaw-bridge. The Giant size He-Man playset is one of the largest fiberglass and polyester resin projects we have ever worked on. Let's just say the next one will be a little smaller. We have made a lot of fun projects but this one has been one of the most labor intensive one I can remember. It should be cool when it's finished. After I fiberglass and ad the tissue laminate layer I give it a quick sand and apply a top coat of gelcoat.
